Rugged tablets for emergency medical services

Rugged mobile solutions and accessories to operate in emergency medicine

What characteristics must tablets for operating emergency medicine have?

The ambulance door opens with a bang. Rain, freeze – it does not matter. Time is of the essence. The paramedic grabs the tablet, removes it from the docking station and runs to the injured person. They will reconnect it in a moment, then again and again several times on the same day.

In this job, the equipment cannot fail. The tablet used to operate emergency medicine must withstand a fall onto pavement, operate in all weather conditions, and have secure, durable connectors. Stable connectivity is essential – data must be available immediately, without disruption.

Because here, every second counts, and the tablet must meet strict requirements.

Reliability and durability

Fully rugged tablets must meet rigorous standards such as MIL-STD-810H and IP66. This means that they should withstand falls, be resistant to shocks, water, dust and the effects of disinfectants.

Excellent connectivity

Where human life is at stake, there is no room for delays, lags or dead zones. With the possibility of connecting external LTE/GPS/WiFi antennas and communication options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE/5G and GPS, the tablet ensures connectivity at all times.

Ability to work in all conditions

The tablet for SWD PRM must have a screen with a brightness of at least 1000 nits, readable even in full sunlight thanks to LumiBond®/DynaVue® technologies.

The touchscreen should work accurately even when it is raining or when the user is wearing gloves.

Wide range of accessories

Comfort and safety are key. For this reason, the tablet should have the option of adding accessories such as shoulder straps and handles, docking stations, external antennas, and a digitizer (active stylus).
